The Toughest Job You’ll Ever Love

spazs diabetes has gotten worse. her glucose was 640 and her fructosamine over 900!! so we’ve had to really up her insulin dose for the time being.

blue moon has the start of kidney disease and has hyperthyroidism.once a week we have to give him fluids at home with an i.v. type of needle. this job has been given to kerry those needles are huge!!

our vet is awesome with the care they give my cats.i have been going to this vet since they opened many yrs ago. ever since spaz got her diabetes dx they are allowing us to have a balance with them. if not for that i may not have 3 cats right now! vet care is very $$$ at times! but i refuse to put down my pets just because i can’t afford their care.it would be different if they were in pain and could not be helped.i am not just going to give up on my companions of nearly *18* years!! no way!! it pisses me off when ppl even hint about it!

it’s the responsibility that comes with owning animals that are ‘of age’.so we are dealing with it little by little as well as we can! with all that my cats have given to me over the yrs,this is the least i can do for them!

i forgot how much fun this age is!!!! erika is such a sponge and learning so much every day! she tries so hard to say everything we say to her!! she is increasing her vocabulary all the time now!

this morning after she nursed i said erika-change? i didn’t even sign it just spoke it and SHE signed it!! i was so excited and proud!! all the sudden she is really picking up the signs and it is sooooo cool,not to mention helpful!

geez i can barely keep it all straight right now!!!

erika needs her antibiotic twice a day
jakob needs his antibiotic once a day
jakob needs his cough medicine twice a day
spaz needs her insulin shot twice a day
spaz needs her antibiotic once a day
blue moon needs his thyroid pill twice a day
blue moon needs his IV fluids once a week
and i need all my goodies once or twice a day!!

today i had to bring 2 of the cats to the vet. we’ve been having some issues but with 3 it is hard to sometimes tell which one it is.

so…..we are doing a process of elimination starting with the ‘geriatric’ duo.

it really irritates me that just when we pay down our vet balance something major happens to hike it up several hundred bucks. but i guess that is how everything in life is right?!

spaz gained 2 pounds-WOOHOO! she is the diabetic kitty and when she first got her dx she had lost alot of weight and was scrawny. they took blood from her to check how the insulin levels are doing and to be sure she doesn’t have any kidney issues,etc.

blue moon LOST over 2pounds. that’s bad for a cat! the vet was also able to feel one of his thyroid glands-very bad :(. so he is nearly pos. he will come back pos. for hyperthyroid with a chance of other issues as well. so he too had blood taken.

the results of all the tests will be back monday sometime.

we have the best vet in the world!! not many let you make payments!

so friday was the day. i was nervous as hell! i didn’t have any idea what to expect really! the doctor was over 30m late! grrrr so i had even more time to get myself in a panic! lol

she started out with the nerve conduction test.at first it was no big deal,just minor discomfort from the shocks.but there were a few that really were quite uncomfortable and even made my leg jerk so much i knocked the machine! heck,my arms were even jerking with some of the shocks she gave me!!

then came the EMG. my hands were soooo sweaty and i was kinda pale.she kept asking if i was ok,was i going to pass out? i told her i was fine,just nervous.the needle is connected to this wire and it’s inserted into the muscle.then the machine tests the muscle at rest and while it contracts.omg! when she made me contract my thigh with the first needle i about jumped off the table! i instinctively grabbed at the needle and almost yanked it out.it hurt like hell! then she goes to put it in at my shin!! i said-isn’t that gonna really hurt right there? i thought she was putting it in the bone!lol but that one actually i barely felt.the ones lower down by my ankle hurt and my calf too.but the thigh was by far the worst!! and with each insertion she had me flex the muscle and i was so timid after that first one cause i KNEW the pain that would follow! when she did the other thigh as soon as the needle went in this bruise popped up! she was surprised and kept pressure on it for awhile.

then she did 2 in my lower back and we were done.i lost track of the total number of times she stuck me! she said everything checked out fine except for my left leg-which makes sense since that is the one giving me issues;and is the reason we were doing the test to begin with. i guess i’ll find out more about the numbers at my next visit.

i’m supposed to go pick up a TENS unit tomorrow to use on my leg at home.would be nice if it helps!!

my baby girl is 14 months old today i love this stage!! she is so silly!!

she is finally starting to walk while we hold her hands,so she may beat lukas-whom was 16m when he started walking!

we’re down to 2-3 nursings per day now.she is very particular about when she wants to nurse!lol

her speech has seemed to explode just this past week! she can say:

milk(tho the k is silent! lol)

apple(with an extra p at the beginning!)
mum mum-her fave snack!

the signs are coming along slowly but surely. she clearly understands more of them than she herself is using.the fave still remains as ‘milk’.

she looooves to initiate a good game of peek a boo! omg she loves it!! she’ll use her hands or a toy or anything she can to cover her eyes and play!! she is blowing kisses,and loves to do the indian sound with her palm up to her mouth. and she LOVES to play with cars and the like!!! hahaha! the boys are loving that! she will play with her FP pink bus forever on the floor! crawling around while pushing it all over the house!!i pity the fool who tries to take it away from her! *ahem* lukas*

we’re up to 4 teeth now!!and some more aren’t too far behind!

she looooves to go in the pool! she is by far my lil fishy!!

when she doesn’t get her way she clenches both fists and shakes them at her side while grunting and her face turns red! it is a riot!! mostly this is done when she wants whatever food someone else is eating!! she loves pb&j,mac n cheese,mandarin oranges,corn,peas,bread,beans,apples-whole apples,not sliced or cut or de skinned!!…heck-there isn’t anything the girl won’t eat!!

lukas and erika have a very evident bond between them.i love watching it evolve! and thankfully,jakob is starting to show more interest in her recently.he likes to pick her up and sit her on the couch with him.they each have a different, yet special relationship with her right now.

we’re still cloth diapering tho i admit i have gotten lazy with it. with all the time we are spending at pools i just throw a sposie on her rather than keep dirty dipes out in the hot sun for the day.

her feet are still itty bitty-a size 3!! lol i love her bitty feet!! and her voice!!! it is sooooo cute!! she just talks and talks and talks(baby garble!),and her voice is the sweetest thing!!!

i finally had my MRI on the 3rd. i’ll find out the results on monday when i see the pain management doctor. then on the 23rd i have my first appt with a neurologist. one way or another i’ll get to the bottom of this!! the leg pain keeps getting more frequent and is still only my lower left leg that is effected. it no longer feels like ‘just’ sciatica,but we’ll see. and my back..same old same old.

i made it thru the day yesterday with no pain pills!! granted,most of the active part of my day was spent in a pool so that surely helped! lol

i have been so thankful that my boys have seemed to bypass crazy childhood stuff like cutting their hair and killing off pets!! well…….. NO MORE!!

a couple weeks ago jakob gave himself not one but TWO haircuts!! one at school and one at home!! luckily i was able to nearly cover it all up by giving him a close buzzcut. i was so shocked!! i didn’t expect him to do that at his age!! well,at least it is done with and won’t happen again. right???? lol

then yesterday lukas once again broke out of his room. sneaky thing takes down his gate then puts it back up to make it look like he just turned into invisi boy and walked thru the thing! lmao

while i slept he decided to feed the fish :(……ALOT!! omg i was so upset!!! no casualties thus far but i am prepared for it. he got a chair from the dining table and dragged it over to the entertainment center,stood on it and got the food :(. i thought for sure it would be safe ALL the way up there!! damn! and thank gosh the container wasn’t more full than it was cause he dumped the WHOLE THING into the tank!! he says they were hungry! oh but it didn’t stop there he thought the betta was hungry too-betta boy is in a small betta bowl so it REALLY messed up his home!! but also his was easier to remedy. the huge tank? not so much!! i did a half tank change last night and scooped out alot of the rocks that had the shrimp pellets all over them and rinsed the filters-but it is still very murky. ya he not only dumped the flakes in he also dumped in sinking shrimp pellets. thankfully he chose not to empty that container too!! ugh!!

so today we are gonna buy a good siphon so i can really clean the bottom of the tank. poor fishies!!
